BUSINESS IN WEST AFRICA

Introduction

Ghana offers many advantages for foreign business groups wishing to gain a foothold in the booming  mineral exploration and production scene in West Africa.

Ghana is a politically stable destination in the region. As a former British colony, Ghana’s primary language for commerce and everyday business is English. In addition, with a well developed educational system there is easy access to a well educated workforce – with many national specialists in the mining sector.

Ghana has a long history of gold mining and is the second largest gold producing country in Africa (10th in the world). New discoveries of oil and gas off the coast of Ghana have led to the development of an emerging offshore hydrocarbon industry.

Increasing numbers of foreign companies are choosing to use Ghana as a base for exploring opportunities in the resources and related contracting industries in the region.
